Where to stay
Where to Stay on the Burgas Coast
Four towns on this coast can plausibly host a Eurovision 2027 visitor. This page maps them against each other. The contest-specific argument, arena distances and partner rooms, is one click away.
The short version
Four bases work for contest week: Sunny Beach for bed volume, Nessebar for character and proximity, Burgas city for the shortest arena run, Sozopol for quiet. Choose based on how you get home after a show.
The four bases, compared
Burgas city is closest and smallest. Sunny Beach and Nessebar hold most of the coast's bed stock, 33 to 35 km out. Sozopol is a similar distance but on the wrong side for a northbound shuttle route.
| Base | To Burgas | By car | From airport | By car | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sunny Beach | ~35 km | 40 to 50 min | ~30 km | 30 to 40 min | The largest bed base on the coast. Package resort, high-rise, walkable strip. |
| Nessebar | ~33 km | 35 to 45 min | ~25 km | 25 to 35 min | UNESCO World Heritage old town on a peninsula, plus a modern new town. |
| Burgas | 0 km | 0 to 15 min | ~10 km | 15 to 20 min | The host city itself. Working port city, sea garden, the only real rail head. |
| Sozopol | ~34 km | 40 to 50 min | ~45 km | 45 to 55 min | Old town of wooden houses south of Burgas. Quieter, smaller, more expensive per night. |
Sunny Beach
The largest bed base on this coast: high-rise, package-resort, built for peak-summer package volume. It is ~35 km from Burgas, a 40 to 50 minute drive off-peak. Full profile: staying in Sunny Beach.
Nessebar
A UNESCO World Heritage old town on a peninsula, plus a modern new town that carries most of the bed stock. Closer to Burgas than Sunny Beach at ~33 km, a 35 to 45 minute drive. Full profile: staying in Nessebar.
Burgas
The host city itself: a working port city with a sea garden, not a resort. Shortest arena run of the four, and the smallest hotel stock for a contest of this size. Full profile: staying in Burgas.
Sozopol
An old town of wooden houses south of Burgas, quieter and smaller than the resort strip, and priced accordingly higher per night. It is the longest late-night return of the four, because it sits against the direction any northbound shuttle route runs. Full profile: staying in Sozopol.
Common questions
- Which area should I stay in for Eurovision 2027?
- It depends on what you are optimising for. Sunny Beach has the most rooms, Nessebar is closer and has more character, Burgas city has the shortest arena run, and Sozopol is the quietest. All four work, and none of them is a wrong answer on its own.
- Is it better to stay in Burgas city or on the coast?
- Burgas city gives you the shortest journey to the arena but the smallest hotel stock, and it books out first. The coast, Sunny Beach and Nessebar, has far more rooms and a longer journey each way. Most visitors end up on the coast because that is where the beds are.
- How do Sunny Beach and Nessebar compare for Eurovision 2027?
- Nessebar is closer to Burgas and has a UNESCO old town, but its guesthouse stock is small. Sunny Beach has by far the larger bed base and a longer strip, at a slightly longer drive to the arena.
- Why is Sozopol not the obvious choice, even though it looks close on a map?
- Sozopol sits south of Burgas, while the resort strip and any arena shuttle route run north. That makes it the longest and least convenient journey back after a show that ends near midnight, even though the straight-line distance looks similar to the other bases.
