Burgas Airport
Burgas Airport, code BOJ, is the arrival point for the whole coast, about 10 km from Burgas city. It is seasonal, so early-May travellers should check their route is flying that early.

Burgas Airport to Sunny Beach
Sunny Beach is the coast's largest bed base, about 30 km and 30 to 40 minutes from the airport. Four options cover the route: taxi, public bus, private transfer and shuttle.

Burgas Airport to Nessebar
Nessebar is the shorter run, about 25 km and 25 to 35 minutes. The detail that catches visitors out is that no vehicle can enter the old town peninsula, so where you get dropped matters.
Nessebar splits into a modern new town, where cars and taxis can go, and a UNESCO old town on a causeway that is pedestrian only. The route page explains the drop-off and the walk in.

Car hire
Most visitors based in one coast town for the week do not need a car once transfers and the arena shuttle are running. A car earns its cost for day trips to Sozopol or several towns.

The four bases, from the airport
Burgas city is nearest the airport at about 10 km. Sozopol is furthest at about 45 km. Sunny Beach and Nessebar, where most visitors stay, sit in between.

Those are off-peak car times. Public transport and Eurovision-week traffic both add to them. Rail does not reach the airport at all: the nearest station is Burgas Central, in the city, not at the airport.
