Accommodation
Where to Stay for Eurovision 2027
The arena is in Burgas. The beds are 35 km up the coast. This page is about how to close that gap without spending your contest week in a taxi queue.
The short version
Stay in Burgas city if you can get a room, because it has the shortest arena run. Otherwise stay in Nessebar or Sunny Beach and book your return transport at the same time as the room. The room and the journey home are one decision, not two.
Why the rooms near the arena run out first
Burgas is a working port city with a hotel stock sized for business travel and summer overflow, not for a contest week. Three live shows plus six previews concentrate demand into a handful of nights, against a city inventory that does not grow.
The arithmetic that matters is not the arena capacity on its own. It is the arena capacity across nine performances, plus delegations, plus crew, plus accredited press, plus the much larger group who come to the host city for the week without a ticket to anything. Liverpool in 2023 drew a crowd many times the size of the venue.
The coast is the real answer
Nearly all the accommodation on this coast sits north of Burgas, in Nessebar and Sunny Beach. That is where the capacity is, it is 35 to 50 minutes from the arena, and in early May it is barely occupied.
This is not a compromise so much as how the region works. Sunny Beach alone holds a bed base built for peak-summer package volume, and Eurovision week falls before that season starts. You are arriving at a coast with plenty of rooms and thin transport, which is the exact inverse of the problem most host cities have.
| Base | To Burgas | By car | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Burgas | 0 km | 0 to 15 min | Shortest arena run, smallest room stock, books out first. |
| Nessebar | ~33 km | 35 to 45 min | Closer than Sunny Beach, UNESCO old town on the doorstep, quieter. |
| Sunny Beach | ~35 km | 40 to 50 min | Most rooms and most choice. Longest run back, most of the strip shut in May. |
| Sozopol | ~34 km | 40 to 50 min | South of the city, so the wrong side for shuttle routes running north. |
Finding a hotel near Arena Burgas
A hotel near Arena Burgas means a hotel in Burgas city. There is no resort cluster next to the venue. If proximity is your priority, you are choosing a city hotel and booking it early.
Search results for hotels near Arena Burgas are dominated by booking sites whose distance filters measure straight-line kilometres to a map pin. That is a poor guide here, because the coast road curves around a bay and a property 12 km away as the crow flies can be a 30 minute drive. Judge distance in minutes, not kilometres.
Hotels near Arena Burgas, and what the listings do not tell you
Three things are missing from every OTA listing for this coast, and all three matter more in contest week than in August.
- Whether it is open. A substantial share of Sunny Beach properties open for the season in mid or late May. A listing that shows availability for 12 May is not a promise that the pool, the restaurant or the bar will be running.
- How you get back at midnight. No booking site models the return leg from an arena, because no booking site sells it.
- What the direct rate is. The rate you see includes the platform's commission. Booking the same room directly with the property is usually cheaper and always more flexible.
The nearest hotel to Arena Burgas is not always the right answer
A room ten minutes from the arena with no evening food, no atmosphere and nothing open is a worse contest week than a room forty minutes away on a coach route. Optimise for the journey home, then for everything else.
Practically, the ranking that works for most visitors is: can I get home after a show, is the property actually open and staffed in the first half of May, is there somewhere to eat after 22:00 nearby, and only then how many kilometres is it from the venue.
Staying close to Arena Burgas versus staying on the coast
| Burgas city | Coast, Nessebar or Sunny Beach | |
|---|---|---|
| Getting back after a show | Walk or a short taxi. | Needs a booked coach or transfer. No scheduled option. |
| Room availability | Limited. Goes first. | Large. Stays available far longer. |
| Price | Rises hardest, because supply is fixed. | Softer, and early May is pre-season. |
| Non-show days | City, sea garden, ordinary restaurants. | Nessebar Old Town, the beach, the strip. |
| Open in early May | Year-round city hotels. Reliable. | Mixed. Check the property is actually trading. |
Before you decide either way, readgetting to Arena Burgas. It is the constraint that should drive this choice, and it is the one people discover last.
Partner properties, booking direct
We are signing partner properties across Burgas, Nessebar and Sunny Beach now. Each one gets a page here with its real distance to the arena, its shuttle stop, and a direct booking link at the direct rate.
We do not list properties we do not represent. A page about a hotel we have no relationship with cannot tell you anything a booking site has not already told you, and it cannot get you a better rate.
Partner announcements go to our email list first, along with the direct rates for contest week. If you run a property on this coast and want to be one of them, get in touch.
Areas we are not recommending, and why
Being straight about this is more useful than a longer list. Sozopol and the south coast are lovely and are the wrong side of Burgas for a shuttle route running north to the main resort strip. Sveti Vlas and the northern end of the bay add distance to an already long run back. Obzor and further north is too far to be practical for a show that ends at midnight.
All of them are good places to stay for a beach holiday. For contest week they cost you the one thing that is genuinely scarce, which is a way home.
What we earn
We are paid a commission by partner properties when you book direct through a link on this site, and it does not change your rate. We are not paid by the booking sites and we do not carry their affiliate links. Where we have no partner in an area, we say so rather than filling the gap with a link that pays us.
Common questions
- Where should I stay for Eurovision 2027 in Burgas?
- Burgas city if you can get a room, because it has the shortest journey to the arena. Otherwise Nessebar or Sunny Beach, 35 to 50 minutes north, where nearly all the bed stock on this coast sits. Decide how you are getting back after a show before you book.
- How far is Sunny Beach from Arena Burgas?
- About 35 km, a 40 to 50 minute drive each way. That is comfortable on the way in and a real problem on the way out, because scheduled buses have stopped by the time a show ends.
- Is there a hotel near Arena Burgas?
- There are hotels in Burgas city, which is where the arena is, but the city has a modest hotel stock for an event of this size. The large concentration of rooms on this coast is in the resorts to the north, not next to the venue.
- When should I book accommodation for Eurovision 2027?
- The rooms closest to the arena go first, and they go on the host city announcement rather than on the ticket on-sale. If you want to be in Burgas city itself, that decision is early. The coast has far more capacity and stays available longer.
- Do I need to book somewhere with a shuttle stop?
- It is the single most useful filter for contest week. A room 200 metres from a coach stop that leaves when the show ends is worth more than a slightly closer room with no way home.
