Getting to Arena Burgas
Getting to the arena is easy. Getting back at half past midnight, to a resort 35 km away, on a night when several thousand people want the same thing, is the part to plan.
The short version
Every coastal base is 20 to 55 minutes from Arena Burgas by road. The outbound trip is straightforward at any hour. The return trip after a show is not, because scheduled buses have stopped and taxi supply does not expand to meet an arena emptying at once.
This is the single most common planning mistake on this coast, and it is entirely avoidable if you decide how you are getting home before you book the room.

Those figures are off-peak car journeys on a normal day. Treat them as the floor, not the expectation. Add time for arena traffic on the way in, and add more for the way out.
Why the last bus is the whole problem
A grand final that starts at 21:00 finishes close to midnight. Scheduled buses between Burgas and the coastal resorts have stopped several hours earlier. There is no timetabled way back to Sunny Beach or Nessebar after a show.
Bulgarian coastal bus services run on a summer-season timetable that is built around beach days, not late events. Even in high season the last departures are in the evening, and the first half of May is not high season, so frequency is lower again.
That leaves four ways home, and they differ enormously in cost and in how badly they fail when the show overruns.

The arena shuttle
We are contracting a return coach on show nights, departing after the show ends rather than on a clock, with stops along the Sunny Beach and Nessebar strip. Seats are not on sale yet.
The point of a coach rather than a car is that it waits for the show, not the other way round. An overrunning grand final does not strand two hundred people if the coach is booked for the building emptying rather than for 23:45.

If you are driving
A hire car solves the timing problem and creates a parking one. Public parking at the venue on a show night will be limited, and the roads around an arena turn-out move slowly in every city.
The workable version is to park in central Burgas, well away from the venue, and walk or take a short taxi for the last stretch. Bulgarian city centre parking is zoned and paid during the day, with rules that change at night, and we will publish the specific zones once the event traffic plan is out. Arriving on a show day
Try not to. Burgas Airport is Heavily seasonal. Most UK, DE and PL routes run late May to early October. and the first half of May is the shoulder, so routes are thinner and a single delay has fewer recovery options. If your flight lands the afternoon of a semi-final, you are relying on nothing going wrong between the runway and the arena door.

- How long does it take to get from Sunny Beach to Arena Burgas?
- Roughly 40 to 50 minutes by road each way, off-peak, for about 35 km. Allow more on a show night, when several thousand people are making the same journey in the same window.
- Is there a bus from Sunny Beach to Burgas at night?
- Not late enough for a Eurovision show. Scheduled services between the resorts and Burgas run through the day and stop in the evening. A show ending near midnight is well outside the timetable, which is the single biggest transport problem of the week.
- How much is a taxi from Burgas to Sunny Beach at night?
- The metered fare is set by the operator tariff, and night rates are higher than day rates. The number you get quoted at a taxi rank after an event is frequently not the metered fare. We publish the real tariff once we have photographed the current rate cards.
- Should I stay in Burgas to be near the arena?
- It is the simplest answer to the midnight problem, and Burgas city has the shortest arena run of any base. The trade-off is that Burgas has a small hotel stock and it is a working city rather than a resort.
