Has the Eurovision 2027 mascot been chosen?

No. Burgas was announced as host city on 13 August 2026 and several mascots have been proposed since, but neither the EBU nor BNT has selected one. BNT has said a competition for mascot ideas is still to come.

Is there an official Eurovision 2027 mascot vote?

Not at the time of writing. No official voting platform has been announced by the EBU, BNT or Burgas municipality. The poll on this page is run by Stay Burgas and is not connected to the organisers.

Who decides the Eurovision mascot?

The host broadcaster, in this case BNT, working with the EBU. Burgas municipality has said it has yet to discuss whether the contest will have a mascot at all. A mascot is not a required part of Eurovision.

The EBU and BNT named Burgas as the host city on 13 August 2026. Within a day the city's puppet theatre had proposed a seagull, and by the end of the week the zoo, a municipal councillor and a fan group had each put a character forward and the comment threads had added several more. What nobody has done is ask anyone to choose.

What is decided, and what is not

Burgas as host city is confirmed. The mascot is not: BNT says a competition for ideas is still to come, and the municipality says it has not yet discussed whether there will be one.

A mascot is not a required part of the contest. Eurovision ran without one for most of its history and only picked the habit up recently — Basel had Lumo in 2025 and the 2026 contest had its own. That is a pattern, not a rule, and Burgas is free to decide there is no mascot at all.

One correction worth making, because it has spread: a few fan sites reported the Euro-Gull as the mascot of Eurovision 2027 in the days after the puppet theatre's post. It is not. It is the first proposal, and it is a good one, but no organiser has adopted it. We will change this page the day one does.

How this poll works

One vote per email address. The address is hashed before it is stored, so the count knows you have voted and nothing else. Nothing is emailed to you unless you tick the box.

A poll where anyone can vote a thousand times is a poll about who has the most patience. The email address is how the count stays honest: it goes through a one-way hash on the server, and what gets stored is the hash and the candidate. We cannot recover an address from it, so we cannot email you off the back of a vote, which is the point.

Voting is separate from subscribing. The newsletter checkbox is unticked, optional, and if you do tick it you still get a confirmation email you have to click before anything is sent. The full detail is in our privacy notice.

Who put each candidate forward

Four came from named sources: the State Puppet Theatre, Burgas Zoo, a municipal councillor and a fan group. The rest came out of comment threads and got picked up nationally.

The ballot above carries the proposer and the report we read each one in. That distinction is on the cards deliberately: a proposal from the city's puppet theatre, which already has the puppet built and on stilts, is a different kind of thing from a suggestion in a comment thread, even when the comment thread has the better idea. Tarator is on the list because the national press reported it, not because we expect BNT to put a bowl of cold soup on stage.

What happens next

The decision sits with BNT as host broadcaster, with the EBU, and with Burgas municipality on anything using the city's own symbols. BNT has signalled a competition for ideas without giving a date, format or deadline. When that is announced we will publish it in the news feed and link the real entry route from this page — and if the official process turns out to include a public vote, this one becomes a record of what readers wanted before it started.
