Transfers
Burgas Airport to Nessebar
About 25 km, 25 to 35 minutes by road, the shorter of the two main airport transfers. The detail most guides skip: no vehicle can reach the old town itself.
The short version
Burgas Airport to Nessebar is roughly ~25 kmby road, a 25 to 35 minute drive off-peak. Taxis and transfers stop in the new town: the old town peninsula itself is pedestrian only.
We are based in Burgas. Where the numbers on this page are not yet checked against a real operator, the page says so rather than printing an estimate dressed up as a price.

The four options, compared
Taxi, public bus, private transfer or shuttle. All four cover the same 25 km. None of the prices for this specific route are confirmed yet, so the cost column below says so.
| Option | Cost | Time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taxi, metered | Not yet confirmed | 25 to 35 min | Arriving off-schedule, travelling light, happy to insist on the meter. |
| Public bus, one change | Not yet confirmed | 60 to 90 min | Solo travellers on a tight budget with hand luggage only. |
| Private transfer | Not yet confirmed | 25 to 35 min | Groups, families, late arrivals, luggage you do not want to carry to a bus stop. |
| Shared shuttle seat | Not yet confirmed | 35 to 55 min | Couples and solo travellers who do not mind extra stops. |
Why where you get dropped matters
Nessebar has two halves: a modern new town on the mainland, and a UNESCO old town on a peninsula joined to it by a narrow causeway. No general traffic reaches the old town itself.
A taxi or private transfer will take you to the new town, or as far along the causeway as vehicles are allowed, and the walk from there into the old town is short but is a walk, cobbled in places, with your luggage. If your accommodation is inside the old town walls, tell your driver or transfer operator in advance so they know where the vehicle stops rather than assuming a door-to-door drop-off.
If your accommodation is in the new town, this does not affect you at all, and it is the simpler booking. The old town itself is worth the walk on its own terms: it is the strongest non-show-day option on the coast, covered in full onNessebar Old Town.
Public transport, honestly
There is no reliable single direct bus. The public route is a city service from the airport into Burgas, then a coastal service north to Nessebar, one change and well over an hour.
It works for one traveller with a rucksack and no fixed schedule to keep. It is a harder sell for a family with cases arriving late in the evening, and it does not solve the old town drop-off problem above, since a bus stop is even less flexible than a taxi about where it leaves you.
Bulgarian coastal bus timetables for summer are published in spring. We publish the 2027 route numbers, fares and first and last departures on this page once they are out, rather than guessing at a July timetable in May.
Booking a transfer with us
Transfers to Nessebar are not on sale yet. We are contracting a local operator for the 2027 season, with fixed, published prices before booking opens.
We would rather say that plainly than take a booking against a price we cannot yet honour. If you are travelling to a show rather than just to your accommodation, the harder problem is usually the return leg from the arena at midnight, not the airport run. Start withgetting to Arena Burgas.

Common questions
- How far is Burgas Airport from Nessebar?
- About 25 km by road, a 25 to 35 minute drive off-peak. It is the shorter of the two main coast transfers from the airport, against roughly 30 km to Sunny Beach.
- Can a taxi or transfer drop me at Nessebar Old Town?
- Not right at it. The old town sits on a peninsula joined to the new town by a narrow causeway that is closed to general traffic. Vehicles stop in the new town or at the causeway, and the last stretch is on foot.
- What's the cheapest way from the airport to Nessebar?
- Public transport, with a change in Burgas, at the cost of a longer journey and no real luggage space. For most visitors with luggage, a taxi or private transfer is the practical choice.
- How much does a taxi or transfer from the airport to Nessebar cost?
- We have not published a figure for this specific route yet. We publish real, checked prices once they exist rather than an estimated range, and this route is not contracted yet.
- Should I book a transfer in advance for Eurovision week?
- Yes. Contest week concentrates arrivals into a few days on a coast built for a weekly charter turnaround, not a daily one. Anything unbooked in that week is a queue.
