Eurovision 2027 in Burgas — Everything You Need
Burgas hosts the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2027. This is the practical version: how to get here, where the beds actually are, how you get back from the arena at midnight, and what things cost.
The short version
Eurovision 2027 is at Arena Burgas, in Burgas, Bulgaria. Fly into Burgas Airport, 10 km from the city. Most visitors will stay on the coast north of Burgas, in Sunny Beach or Nessebar, and travel in for shows.
The dates, the ticket on-sale window and the arena capacity all come from the EBU and the host broadcaster, and none of them are published yet. Everything on this site that depends on those announcements is marked as unconfirmed rather than guessed. Everything that does not depend on them, which is most of the practical planning, you can do now.

Dates and venue
Three live shows: two semi-finals and a grand final, held across one week in May 2027 at Arena Burgas. The EBU confirms exact dates with the host city announcement.
| Show | Expected date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| First semi-final | 11 May 2027, expected | Awaiting EBU |
| Second semi-final | 13 May 2027, expected | Awaiting EBU |
| Grand final | 15 May 2027, expected | Awaiting EBU |
Add the two non-show days to your planning early. In a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday week, the Wednesday and Friday are free, and nearly every visitor arrives without a plan for them.
The venue itself gets its own page: Arena Burgas, covering where it sits in the city, how to reach it from each coast town, and what is within walking distance.
Tickets and where they are sold
Tickets are sold by one appointed agent announced by the EBU. Nothing is on sale yet. Any site selling Eurovision 2027 tickets today is selling something it does not have.
The Liverpool ticket curve peaked two months before the contest, at the on-sale moment, not in the contest week itself. Expect the same shape here: a short, heavily oversubscribed on-sale in roughly March 2027, then very little availability afterwards.
We do not sell tickets and we are not a resale site. Full detail, and the warning signs on resale listings, are onEurovision 2027 tickets.
Getting to Burgas
Burgas Airport, code BOJ, is the arrival point, 10 km from the city. It is a seasonal airport. The question for a May trip is not the fare, it is whether your route has started flying for the summer yet.
Most UK, German and Polish routes into Burgas are summer charter and low-cost services that build up through May. If your route starts late in the month, the alternatives are Sofia, then a domestic connection or a long drive across the country, or Varna, roughly two hours north up the coast.

Where to stay across the region
Burgas city has a small hotel stock for a city hosting a contest of this size. The beds are on the coast, in Sunny Beach and Nessebar, 30 to 50 minutes north. Plan the night journey before you book the room.
| Base | To Burgas | By car | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunny Beach | ~35 km | 40 to 50 min | The largest bed base on the coast. Package resort, high-rise, walkable strip. |
| Nessebar | ~33 km | 35 to 45 min | UNESCO World Heritage old town on a peninsula, plus a modern new town. |
| Burgas | 0 km | 0 to 15 min | The host city itself. Working port city, sea garden, the only real rail head. |
| Sozopol | ~34 km | 40 to 50 min | Old town of wooden houses south of Burgas. Quieter, smaller, more expensive per night. |
The full argument, including why the rooms closest to the arena disappear first and what the coast costs you in travel time, is onwhere to stay for Eurovision 2027.
Getting to the arena
This is the part most people get wrong. Shows end close to midnight. The public buses between Burgas and the coastal resorts stop running in the evening, and taxi supply at a stadium turn-out is not elastic.
If you are staying in Sunny Beach, the arena is a 40 to 50 minute drive each way. That is fine at 18:00 and a genuine problem at 00:30, when several thousand people leave one building at once and the timetabled buses finished hours earlier.
We break the options down town by town ongetting to Arena Burgas, and we are contracting a return arena shuttle for show nights.
What to do on non-show days
Two days in the contest week have no show. Nessebar Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site 35 minutes up the coast, is the strongest single option, and it is quiet in May.
May on this coast is not beach season. The sea is around 17 degrees, a good share of the resort infrastructure has not opened for the summer, and evenings need a jacket. Plan for a city and old-town trip, not a beach day.

Practical Bulgaria
Bulgaria uses the euro, adopted on 1 January 2026. Cards work nearly everywhere. The two things that cost visitors money are the airport taxi and the currency exchange desk.
Neither is exotic and neither is unavoidable, but both catch first-time visitors, and both are worth ten minutes of reading before you land rather than after.

Who publishes this
Stay Burgas is run from Burgas by people who work with hotels on this coast. We make money when a visitor books a room with one of our partner properties or buys a seat on the arena shuttle, and we say so on every page where it applies. We are not a booking agency, we do not sell tickets, and we have no connection to the contest organisers.
Common questions
- Where is Eurovision 2027 being held?
- Arena Burgas, in Burgas on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Burgas is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria and sits at the southern end of the resort strip that includes Sunny Beach and Nessebar.
- When is Eurovision 2027?
- The contest runs across a week in May 2027, with two semi-finals and a grand final. The EBU has not published the confirmed dates yet. We update this page the day they do.
- What is the nearest airport to Arena Burgas?
- Burgas Airport, IATA code BOJ, roughly 10 km from the city centre. It is a seasonal airport, so the first thing to check for a May trip is whether your route is flying that early in the season.
- Do I need to stay in Burgas itself?
- No, and most visitors will not. The bed base on this coast sits in Sunny Beach and Nessebar, 30 to 50 minutes north of the city. The thing to plan is the journey back after a show that ends near midnight, when the public buses have stopped.
- Is Bulgaria expensive?
- It is one of the cheaper destinations in the EU, and it uses the euro, which it adopted on 1 January 2026. The costs that catch visitors out are not the prices, they are the airport taxi and the currency exchange desk.
