High summer Sunny Beach is one of the busiest club strips on the Black Sea. Early May is not high summer. Here is what is actually running for Eurovision week, and the trust habits worth carrying into any of it.

Sunny Beach becomes one of the largest club strips on the Black Sea in high summer, but early May is shoulder season. Only a core of venues is running. The rest switches on in June.

What is actually open in early May
A core of bars and a smaller number of clubs run year-round or open for the start of the season in spring. The rest of the strip, the venues that make Sunny Beach one of the biggest party destinations on this coast in July and August, does not open until the main charter season arrives in June.
The kinds of venues you will find
Three broad categories: large beachfront clubs, bars along the main pedestrian strip, and quieter bars inside the resort hotels. In May, the hotel bars are the most reliably open of the three.
- Beachfront clubs. The large open-air venues that define Sunny Beach in the photos. These are the most summer-dependent of the three types and the most likely to still be closed or running a reduced night in early May.
- Main strip bars. Smaller venues along the pedestrian core of the resort. A higher share of these trade year-round or open early than the beachfront clubs do, because the fixed costs of running one are lower.
- Hotel bars. Attached to the resort hotels themselves. These follow the hotel's own opening dates rather than the club season, so they are usually the safest early season bet if the hotel itself is open.
Whichever hotel you book, its own opening status for May 2027 is a question for that hotel directly. We do not guess it here.
The rhythm of a night out here
Starts are late, in the pattern common to Black Sea and Mediterranean resort towns generally. Bars fill gradually across the evening, and the clubs that are open do not properly fill until well after midnight. Plan your evening transport around that rhythm, not around an early finish.
Check the bill, every time
The single most useful habit on any resort party strip, this one included: read the bill line by line before you pay it, and keep your card in sight while it is being processed.
Inflated bills and unexpected add-on charges are a pattern on party strips across Europe, not something specific to Sunny Beach, and they are easiest to catch before you have paid rather than after. Ask for an itemised bill if one is not offered, and query anything you did not order while the staff member is still at the table.
None of this is specific to any named venue. It is the same advice worth carrying into any large party strip anywhere in Europe, and it costs nothing to apply.
Getting there and back
